2011 Cranberry Festival King & Queen

The 2011 Cranberry Festival King & Queen Talent & Crowning Ceremony was held Wednesday evening at the Seneca Fire Hall. 

Amber Port, daughter of Michael & Sherri Port of Oil City, a Junior at Cranberry Jr Sr High School was crowned the 2011 Cranberry Festival Queen.  Zachery Amos, son of Craig & Kelly Amos, a Junior at Oil City Senior High School was crowned the 2011 Cranberry Festival King.  Nine girls competed for the 2011 Cranberry Festival Queen Title and six boys competed for the 2011 Cranberry Festival King Title.   The fifteen candidates, all juniors at local area schools, were interviewed by three Festival judges, Retired State Representative & US Naval Officer, Ron Black; Venango County District Attorney, Marie Veon; and Maurice’s Store Manager & former Pageant Director for Western Tennessee, James Dixon.

Each candidate also completed an essay on “Why I would like to be Festival Queen / King”.  They also were graded on their community related interests, school and extra-curricular activities, and employment experience.   The Talent Show portion allowed each of the contestants to perform a talent of their choice in front of the three judges and the public.  The talent scores were tallied and added to their previous scores.  The 2011 King  & Queen were both given a basket of gifts from local merchants.
